Campbell Campbell Edwards & Conroy obtained a defense verdict in Allen Alsabagh v Takeda Pharmaceuticals
January 2014

James M. Campbell of Campbell Campbell Edwards & Conroy represented Takeda Pharmaceuticals in Clark County State Court in Las Vegas, Nevada in a matter involving product liability.

The plaintiff, a 67 year old man named Mr. Allen Alsabagh, sued Takeda Pharmaceuticals claiming the diabetes treatment Actos, a Takeda product, caused Mr. Alsabagh to develop bladder cancer and that Takeda had failed to properly and adequately warn of the risk of bladder cancer associated with Actos on the drug’s label.

Mr. Campbell tried the case and after a 4 week trial the jury returned a verdict for Takeda Pharmaceuticals.  The jury found that the Actos label was adequate and that Actos did not cause bladder cancer.  This was the first time any jury had found both that the label was sufficient and that Actos did not cause bladder cancer.

James M. Campbell served as lead trial counsel for Takeda Pharmaceuticals in this case.
