Vista Gems v. Pep Boys

Driver lost control when the rear wheel, tire and brake disc assembly separated from the vehicle. Prior to the accident, Pep Boys had replaced the tires, but contended that it had applied the proper torque to the lug nuts.It argued that the cause of the wheel separation was a partial engagement of the parking brake, causing it to drag and the aluminum wheel to overheat.
