Conrad v. Ford Motor Company

On March 28, 2005. Co-defendant Nancy Benjamin, traveling at approximately 30 mph, slammed into the rear of Plaintiffs’ 1987 Ford F-150 while the F-150 was stopped, waiting to make a left turn. The force pushed the F-150 approximately 500 feet down the road, across the opposing lane of traffic, off the shoulder, down a ditch and into a tree. The force of this accident together with plaintiff Conrad’s pre-existing conditions resulted in spinal injuries and paralysis. Plaintiffs filed a crashworthiness suit against Ford alleging strict liability negligence and breach of warranty. Plaintiffs further alleged that the F-150 was defectively designed because it lacked a head restraint.
