Cicollelo v. Caterpillar

A laborer was working next to a Caterpillar pipe layer when his hand became entrapped in the sheave block, resulting in the partial sever of two fingers. Plaintiff argued that Caterpillar should have designed its pipe layer with a safety guard in front of the sheave block. Caterpillar contended that safety guards were impractical, since they would impede the pipe layer from operating properly.
