Ray v. Mendenhall
The plaintiff Leon Ray was injured in a four vehicle accident inside the Interstate 93 tunnel underneath downtown Boston. The plaintiff claimed to have sustained serious neck and spinal injuries which necessitated his retirement from his union job as a steelworker. The plaintiff alleged that the defendant truck driver was speeding and jacknifed his tractor trailer and that this caused a second collision in which the plaintiff was injured.
The case settled for a nuisance value on the second day of trial after the plaintiff had reached substantial settlements with two co-defendants.
