Practice & Industry Expertise

Aviation Litigation

Trial work in the aviation industry covers many areas from commercial, to employment to products liability. Our years of experience with aviation clients, including in 9/11 litigation, means we are intimately familiar with the issues facing this industry.

Demonstrated Experience

Campbell Campbell Edwards & Conroy represents domestic and foreign airlines and their insurers, aircraft manufacturers and component part suppliers, airport authorities and ground handling companies in a wide range of cases brought in state and federal courts and in domestic and international arbitration tribunals. The firm has substantial and current experience defending claims involving personal injury and death, discrimination, including post 9/11 passenger profiling, accessibility by travelers with disabilities, property damage and premises liability. We regularly litigate cases governed by the Warsaw Convention, Montreal Convention and other international treaties, as well as by the aviation laws and regulations of the United States. Our work for the aviation industry also includes general commercial litigation.

Currently, the firm is representing one of the non-carrier airlines in the litigation pending in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York arising out of the terrorist attacks of September 11th. Judge Alvin K. Hellerstein appointed Richard Campbell to the Aviation Defendants’ Executive Committee (“ADEC”) as Representative of the “Non-Carrier” Airlines Group. He also appointed Kathleen Guilfoyle as the Alternate Representative. The ADEC is responsible for coordinating the overall management of the procedural aspects of the litigation.
